BDCo rewards team

We manage our firm with many key performance indicators and provide our team with various rewards when they exceed goal.PV_004.jpg  For reaching one of our KPIs the firm took our entire team and their spouses to Puerto Vallarta.  By far this was our best trip.  Everyone found plenty to do or not to do.  Along with an endless source of blended beverages.

Tax Benefits Good for You and our Environment

A conservation easement is a great way to get a substantial charitable deduction while preserving the rural nature of your property. The design of an easement can be very flexible based on your needs for the property. Here is a link to a page on the Land Trust Alliance's website that gives a good overview:

Land Trust Alliance website

Normally, you are only able to take charitable deductions up to 30% of your adjusted gross income in a given year. Any excess donations may normally be carried forward for up to 5 years. However, recent tax law changes allow you to deduct a conservation easement donation of up to 50% of AGI, and carry any excess forward for 15 years. If you're a farmer (greater than 50% of AGI is from farming activities) then your deduction increases to 100% of your AGI.  Congress has extended this benefit through the end of 2009.

The best way to pursue obtaining a conservation easement is through the Land Trust of Napa County. Contact John Hoffnagle at 707-252-3270 or john@napalandtrust.org

For more information please contact Lori Cantafio at our office (963-4466 ext 23).

The deduction you receive is equal to the difference in appraised value before and after the conservation easement is granted. This reduction in value is claimed as a Charitable Deduction on your tax return.
